Today I just wanted to show you how you can self-publish your own e-book on Amazon in under four minutes and make possibly over a thousand dollars a month.
I started publishing last year, I’ve got five books published and it’s amazing how well my books sell on Amazon. They have billions of customers just waiting to buy ebooks and most of my months are already over $1,000 per month with no signs of slowing down so it’s not as much of a claim as it is a possibility.
There are people that are making literally hundreds of thousand dollars a year on self-publishing so the potential is unlimited based on the quality of your book but here I just want to show you how you can publish your book on Amazon in under four minutes.
It’s super easy to do so the first thing to do, just head over to Amazon’s Kindle direct publishing system. It’s just KTP amazon.com and you can sign in with any existing Amazon account and here, I’m going to show you the two things you need to publish your e-book.
Literally, just a word document that’s been formatted properly and the cover is all you need.
I’ve used these techniques to hit number one bestsellers for some of my other books, so really good tips and techniques for this video, I’m just going to share you very quickly how we can publish your book on Amazon so go ahead and sign in to your account once you get there to your bookshelf.
This is where I have all of my books that I’ve already published and I’m going to start a timer here so that you can see just how long this takes. It’s how simple it is so we’re going to click on add new title, KDP select, I like to do that so Amazon Prime members can borrow my book for free and Amazon does pay you for a borrow so it’s nice to do the book.
Name is required obviously, so you’re just going to enter your book name. I recommend having a long title so you can get all of those nice keywords into it some of the optional things here, edition number and publisher since we’re going to self-publish, it is not too important.
The description is very important and it’s required. I recommend you put a lot of work into this. Here I’m gonna you know, get a hook here $1,000 a month, you put all of the best parts of your book here to try to sell it to the reader. This is your sales pitch to the reader so put a lot of thought into it, you can put a lot of characters there.
Next, you are going to add book contributors so you would add your name as the author here and you can also see it as a drop-down. You can add editors, photographers, things like that. For this exercise, I’m just going to put my name for the author, for the publishing rights, all for the ISBN.
You don’t need that for Amazon which is really nice. You don’t have to pay the money for that publication date, you can just choose today. This basically just says you hold the publishing rights and you wrote the book and then categories you can go through and select up to two categories that most closely match your book.
So for this, I’m just going to choose writing skills. I’m just going to do one for time and then seven keywords here. So this is when somebody searches in the Amazon system, what it will match up to so think of seven good keywords to attract your customers, upload your book cover.
Basically, you’re just going to add your JPEG file that I showed you in the earlier portion and I’m not going to do that right now. Just because it takes a while to upload on the Amazon system and here’s where you can enable digital rights management or not, I usually choose not to. I don’t feel the need to but then we upload our DLC file and literally, it’s just a word file choose that and we’re going to click upload book.
So this actually can take a little bit of time, so I just want to talk about Amazon pricing when we get to the next page. Anything from $2.99 to $9.99, you get 70% of the revenue. So if you sell a book at $2.99, Amazon is going to take the 30% cut and you’re going to be left with I think it’s like about $2.10 is what’s leftover after that. So if you price your book from $0.99 to $1.99, you can choose that low price to try to drive more sales but you only get 30%. Now the nice thing since we had KDP select even if you get a borrow, you do usually get between two and three dollars per borrow. So here your publishing rights you can choose worldwide which is great. You can sell to any country out there and then again, we’ll choose 70% royalty here and price this book at $2.99 once you hit that, you can see
209, there’s your estimated royalty and you can just simply click these buttons to price your book across the world at the equivalent of $2.99 for US dollars and there’s your estimated royalty for the 70% option.
And now we can basically click Save and publish and literally, we are done with about 40 seconds left. We can click Save and publish, so I’m not going to publish this in right now because it’s already done. I just wanted to show you how easy it was once you hit save and publish.
Your self-published Kindle books is usually on Amazon within 24 hours sometimes less, sometimes more, depends on how busy they are, I guess.
So here’s the book that I have published and this is called Crush it on the Kindle, this is where I show all of my tips for selling on the Kindle, how to increase your sales, hit number one status and I even show you how to do this nice formatting which Amazon does.
It usually shows you how to do this nice Amazon orange center bold. You’ll notice a lot of other book covers, descriptions don’t look nearly as nice as that so this is how you publish on Amazon Kindle. If you’re interested in more formatting tips, please visit ad Crush it on the Kindle on Amazon and you can simply go to the website shown on the screen and I hope you enjoyed my how to publish on Amazon Article today.
